A police robot removed and detonated a suspicious package Wednesday about two hours after authorities were called to a bank on Roswell Road in northeast Atlanta.
The package turned out to be guidebooks, according to Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones.
“We always respond to suspicious package calls,” she said, adding that the procedure hasn’t changed since the bombing during the Boston Marathon on Monday.
A man left the unmarked box inside the Wells Fargo branch in the 4400 block of Roswell Road near West Wieuca Road just after 11 a.m., police said. The man who dropped off the package did not speak to anyone, Jones said, and he was captured on security cameras. Police are looking for him.
Shortly after 1 p.m., a bomb squad robot emerged from inside the bank with the package.
Roswell Road reopened to traffic around 2 p.m.
