新しいカベルネ
寿司屋でカベルネ？ なかなか売れないのですがね、やはりワイン通はカベルネを飲みますね。
したがって置かないわけにはいかない。今回は50ドルと60ドルという比較的動く価格帯のワインです。
Halter ranch, paso Nobles CA 2007
80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbecという構成で100％のカベルネではありませんが、カリフォルニアの法律では80％以上入っていればカベルネと名乗れるそうです。ワインメーカーのテースティングノートは以下です。
Blended with small amounts of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, our 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a dark ruby color and deeply concentrated aromas of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and black plum fruit interwoven with scents of earth, sage, and herbal spice. Big, ripe and juicy on the palate, its mouth-filling blackcurrant and dark plum flavors are supported by round, supple tannins that guide the wine through its long, rich and smooth finish. Delicious now with grilled steak and lamb, prime rib, venison stew and other hearty repasts, it will age beautifully for another 7-10 years.

ワイナリーの名前は、Laurel GlenWineryで、そこのブランドの１つとしてこのブランドがあります。
San Francisco ChronicleがTtop 100 wines for 2011として選んでいます。
また、このワイナリーはカベルネしか作っていません。それだけ専業しているので味は自信があるのでは？と考えてしまいますね。
こんな批評が出ています。
2007 was a great vintage for all wine growing regions in California from Napa to Sonoma down to the Central Coast. It was especially good for Cabernet Sauvignon. Bright ruby-red. Aromas of red berries, tobacco, mocha and smoky minerals, with suave notes of spicecake and rose adding complexity. Juicy, penetrating red fruit flavors become sweeter in the mid-palate and repeat the floral note. There's good minerality here, which adds a nervy underpinning, but the fruit is to the fore right now. Finishes with good juicy cling and echoes of rose and cherry. The wine's sneaky tannins bode well for aging.
There’s been much talk about how well Napa Cabernet faired in 2007, but very little on how Sonoma Cabs performed. We discovered one recently while visiting in California. It is a small production wine from the Sonoma Mountain appellation, the Laurel Glen Counterpoint Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2007 Laurel Glen Counterpoint Cabernet Sauvignon is delicious with very ripe black currant and cassis fruit with a nice tannic structure on the finish.
